Overview
Varicoceletomy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure. It is performed to repair the condition and symptoms related to dilated veins around the testicle(s). The surgeon will isolate the varicocele veins via small incision in the groin. The veins are cut and tied off at each end to prohibit blood flow.
How to prepare for the procedure
Varicoceletomy is performed under general anesthesia. When preparing to have a procedure performed under anesthesia you can expect to start fasting the night prior to your procedure. Please consult with your surgeon to discuss the pre-operative testing which may include; blood work, chest x-ray, EKG, discontinuation of medications, and clearance for other medical reasons. The procedure will be done either at the office or outpatient surgery center.
